Hygge is a buzz word that’s been on many people’s lips lately. If you haven’t heard of it, Hygge – pronounced hue-guh, is a Norwegian word meaning well-being.
It is used to describe the Danish culture of celebrating what we already have and enjoying life’s simple pleasures. Hygge homes have a warm, cosy atmosphere where you can relax, eat comfort food and enjoy the company of friends and family.
The idea is to create a space where you can wind down and forget about all your worries. A comfortable couch with the lights dimmed, or candles burning, where you can cuddle up with your dog and read a book, is Hygge.
It doesn’t matter how wealthy you are, Hygge is a way of life that increases happiness and well-being. A lifestyle believed to be responsible for Denmark being one the happiest countries in the world.
