Get the décor effect

• Select a piece of furniture to be professionally spray-painted in the same colour as the walls. The result will complement the walls and help to pull the room together. The colours won’t be identical as the different texture and constituents of spray paint will cause the shade to vary slightly.
• Lay down drop sheets and apply masking tape around the edges of the floor and ceiling, windows, doors and light fixtures.
• Ensure that all surfaces are clean and dry, then paint the walls and fireplace with two coats of Plascon Cashmere White, allowing the paint to dry between coats. One feature wall will remain white, but on the other walls the white provides a good base coat to the pink. Use the Hamilton’s Professional paintbrush for tricky corners and the Polypile roller for the rest. Allow the second coat to dry overnight.
• Using a tape measure, spirit level and masking tape, mask out a border around three of the room’s four walls and around the windows and fireplace.
• With the Hamilton’s paintbrush, paint the borders in two coats of Plascon Double Velvet Burnt Horizon (R7-B1-1), allowing the paint to dry between coats. Remove the masking tape.
• Prepare items of wooden furniture, such as the coffee table, to be painted. Sand down the wood, if necessary, and ensure that all surfaces are smooth, clean and dry.
• Paint the clean wooden surfaces in Plascon Eggshell Enamel Mystic Tulip (R1-A1-1). Apply two coats of paint, allowing the first to dry before applying the second.
• Mask out the edges of the fireplace and the Burnt Horizon border. Using the Hamilton’s Polypile roller, paint the area inside the border in Plascon Cashmere Mystic Tulip (R1-A1-1). Leave one of the walls and the fireplace white. Allow the first coat of paint to dry, then apply a second coat.
• Make your own “patchwork” carpet by gluing together squares of carpeting in various shades of red.
• Have a mirror cut to fit your coffee table.
• Use the white wall as a gallery space and hang a series of paintings against it. Opt for works in muted tones to balance the playfulness of the rest of the room.
• Arrange a selection of ornaments and artworks in complementary shades of red, pink and white around the room for a look that’s full of interest and humour.
