How to: Candy-stripe a shelf

We used

  • Plascon Cashmere Blue Bells for the wall
  • Plascon Cashmere Aqua Pool for the stripes
  • Plascon Glaze Coat for the glossy stripes
  • Paint roller and a small sponge roller
  • Plastic paint trays
  • Pencil and a long ruler
  • Spirit level
  • Masking tape

Get the décor effect

  • Paint the wall with the base coat of Cashmere Blue Bells.
  • Start on the left-hand side of the wall and mark out the first stripe with the pencil and ruler. Continue along the wall, marking out all the stripes.
  • Using your pencil markings, draw in the stripes using the ruler. Use the spirit level to check that your stripes are straight.
  • Mask out the blue stripes (on the wall that has just been painted in Blue Bells) with masking tape.
  • Use the small sponge roller to fill in the green stripes. (We used Aqua Pool.) Leave to dry.
  • Pull off all the masking tape.
  • To finish off, mask off bands of two stripes at a time (cover one blue and one green stripe with masking tape) for the glossy stripes. Use the small sponge roller and fill in the glossy stripes with Plascon Glaze Coat.
