Get the décor effect

• A week in advance, apply two coats of Plascon Double Velvet White to the walls and ceiling to create a clean canvas. It’s also a good idea to give baby’s furniture a fresh coat of paint in Plascon Velvaglo White, as this will offset the bright wall colours beautifully.
• Using a tape measure, spirit level and masking tape, mark out the level of the sky. In this room, the sky started one metre above the skirting. Lay down a drop sheet and, using the Hamilton’s Polypile roller, paint the wall below this line with one coat of Plascon Double Velvet Green Heart to create a “hedge”. Paint the area above the line in Plascon Double Velvet Hidden Stream to create the sky. Allow to dry, then apply a second coat to both sections.
• To paint the clouds, apply Plascon Cashmere White in circular motions, using an artist’s brush. You may require two coats. If the outline is too solid and clean to be convincing, soften the edges by smudging them with a sponge. This will give the clouds a fluffy effect.
• To achieve a solid break between the two painted sections, cut “bricks” out of brightly coloured card and use spray adhesive or Prestik to attach them along the wall.
• Using a craft knife, cut out balloon shapes from pieces of coloured card. (Kite or bird shapes would work well, too.) Attach pretty ribbons to the ends of the balloons and attach them to the walls with spray adhesive or Prestik, letting the ribbons hang free.
